Today is a gorgeous day in Brooklyn.  It’s completely clear and the sky and water are the most beautiful shades of blue…  Especially the water.  It’s that perfect combination of green and blue.

I rode my bike to the Brooklyn Bridge to sit in the sunshine and have coffee.  I positioned myself in front of the carousel which was full of little kids!  There must have been some event happening, because I was suddenly swarmed by 2-year-old little boys and girls.  My God, they are so cute and so funny.  It was a bit like being swarmed by bees, but in a good way.  What I noticed most about them, is they smile and laugh with their entire body… I mean how can you not be hypnotized by such beauty!

They must have been handing out balloons for this event, because they were flying all over the place.  The colors painted such a pretty picture against that brilliant blue sky.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a little boy running along with a red balloon.  He suddenly let go of the balloon!  The wind took it and it floated over the railing and down to the water.  Oh dear, his face… first it was total disbelief, then came the sadness.  I looked at him and said “OH, NO”!  He clouded up and rained just like a storm.  His Dad, was quickly by his side, comforting him and telling him it would be ok.  It was so sweet to watch.

What happened next is another example of magic in the Universe.  That balloon, floated up from the water, back over the railing, directly across the walkway and into the hands of the little boy!  I swear on my grandma’s grave!  OMG… I mean, I started looking around.  Did anyone else see that?  It was fantastic!  The little boy’s face was just pure joy.  That moment was right out of a movie.  It was, in my mind, a complete example of heaven on earth.  I sat for a moment, so humbled by this beautiful sight.

Letting go of a balloon is a lot like losing something you love in life.  The instant it happens is so heart wrenching.  Seeing this on a child’s face is a perfect example of how we, as adults, feel on the inside.   What if letting go is for the greater good?  Maybe we’ve been clinging to something that needs to be released.  What if letting go will actually free you to RECEIVE what is really yours?   Just like the red balloon that found its way home to the little boy.  ♥

Yesterday, I spent the entire afternoon at one of my favorite places in the world…  the BEACH!  It was just a beautiful day.  There was a slight breeze, the water was warm and crystal clear, the sky was blue, the waves were gentle…  You can visualize the day, right?  It was heaven on earth.

When I spend time at the beach, I always observe the beauty that is evident all around me.  Yesterday, I became engrossed with picking up beach rocks, not shells, the rocks!  What a day it was for my search.  I found so much variety.  There were all shapes, sizes, colors, textures, you name it.  Each one was more beautiful than the next.  While some were pure in color, they had beautiful shapes.  Others were expertly colored and textured.  The sizes ranged from tiny to enormous… can you see where I’m going with this?

As I walked along picking them up for my collection, I was struck by how much these rocks reminded me of people.  Each one was so unique and a complete masterpiece, just the way people are.  Mother Nature has the most diverse palette and she paints each of us expertly.  It’s our job to recognize uniqueness and beauty in each other.

Try looking at your brothers and sisters of the world with a different lens.  Can you see the masterpiece in front of you?  Acknowledge them with wonder and love. ♥

Timing is such an important part of life.  I think about this every time I miss a train by seconds.  You dash down the subway stairs only to find those doors slammed shut in your face!  There is always another train, but what might have been different in your day had you just made that connection?

I have had many examples of great timing in my life, both personally and professionally.  I specifically remember taking my first apartment in NYC.  I had just moved from Atlanta to New York.  I was suffering some serious culture shock!  I had been looking for apartments with no success.  I was scheduled to see another apartment after work on a summer night.  I remember standing at the top of the subway steps thinking that I did not want to go.  It was hot and stinky in the subway and I had worked a long stressful day.  For some reason, “divine timing”, I decided to get on the train.  I ended up getting this beautiful apartment through a series of serendipitous events that evening.  Living in that apartment would provide me with a great new circle of friends and a peaceful place to call home for many years.  The timing was divine!

There is a certain magic about the timing of events.  I like to think that timing is always right…

If you seem to be missing a lot of connections in life, whether personally or professionally, the universe might just be protecting you from the wrong connection.  It is your job to trust and keep moving forward without being discouraged.  The right connection is just around the corner and all you have to do is ENTER!  ♥

Yesterday I came home from the beach with a moth in my bag!  I was pulling out the towels to be washed and she flew up over my head and landed directly above me on the ceiling.  She was gorgeous!  A lovely mix of taupe and grey.  She must have been ready for a change in scenery to travel all that way with me in my bag.  Or, maybe she was looking for a new light?

Moths are nocturnal, they follow the light of the moon.  When they lose sight of the moon, they use their inner knowledge and feeling to navigate the dark.  How amazing that is… to trust in your inner wisdom and intuition to guide you in darkness.

We spend a lot of time using our physical senses to navigate our lives.  For me, it’s mostly looking.  I’m always looking for something.  I want to be able to see it coming or recognize it on the horizon.  What would it be like to trust our intuition and let those internal feelings guide us?  It would be a lot like living in the wisdom of the beautiful little moth that followed me home to deliver a message about trusting and letting life come to you…♥

Sometimes you are rolling along in life, thinking everything is status quo, moving through your days and nights, until IT happens.  The Red Flag is thrown.  This can be anything, an accident, a financial reversal, a health crisis, the end result is that you are forced to face something you have been ignoring for a very long time.  The universe is basically telling you that its time to snap out of it, and deal with whatever has been lurking on the back burner.

The size of the red flag is in direct relationship to your need to address the problem.  Some red flags are little, in fact they are so little, that you can possibly ignore them.  This, of course, is a bad idea, but we all do it.  It works for  a while until the next red flag is thrown.  This time its a little larger and harder to sweep away.  You see the point I’m making.  Ignoring your red flags can only lead to setbacks and suffering.  You have to face head on what you have been denying or hiding.  It takes effort and courage to face a red flag, but it’s also a great time to make a 180 degree turn in your life.  Think of it as coming to the fork in the road… now you will choose to go a different direction.

Can you think of any red flags that you have been ignoring?  Have you had any giant upsets in the past because you ignored too many of them?  Remember, the universe is always communicating with us, if we choose to be aware and accept the information.  Use these reminders to make changes for the better.  ♥

Happy New Year everyone!  The end of one year and the beginning of another are always so loaded with emotion.  Reflection on the events of the past year and the hopes for the year ahead are surrounding you.  Today I wanted to remind you to listen to the universe when it talks to you and to learn to recognize messages that are meant to help you along your journey in life…

Since I started this blog, I have been writing about events that are important to me and my journey.  What I see very clearly as I read through previous entries, is that the universe has been talking to me.  By “Universe”, I mean the higher power that connects us all on this earth.  You can define it in whatever way you choose.  For me, messages often come through complete strangers.  I’ll give you an example…

I was shoe shopping the other day.  I was trying on this ridiculously high pair of heels.  As soon as I put my foot in these shoes, this woman appeared around the corner.  She said how beautiful they looked on my feet.  I started laughing, as I knew that I could not walk to the corner in these shoes.  The shoes were a dream for me.  I turned to her and said, “they’re a dream, right”?  She laughed and turned to walk away.  This is where I got surprised by the universe.  For some reason, this woman turned around and came back to me, looked me straight in the eye and told me “dreams come true”!  She went on to tell me how many of the dreams she had for herself had come true in her life.  I was really humbled by this moment, as I needed to hear those words at this point in my life.  I thanked her and we shared a beautiful moment between total strangers.

The universe talks in other ways also.  It can be something in nature.  Something that keeps appearing to you outside, animals, trees, the sky…something on the sidewalk or in the air.  Remember the post I wrote about the butterfly?  How she appeared to me in the middle of all of the noise and traffic in NYC.  Your body sends messages to you as well.  Notice how your body feels when you are in different situations or around different people.  Your body is so smart and it is your greatest ally in life.   Being connected to these feelings and signals is a true asset in the quest for peace and health.

For 2012, I’m challenging all of you to be open to these messages and to take them in to your heart.  You may not always know the meaning of the message.  Others will be so direct that you cannot ignore them.  Just be patient and sit with these messages, they will make sense in time.   You will begin to become a navigator on your journey in life, with the universe and its messages, your trusted advisor.  ♥

Wishing you all the peace and love that you can hold in 2012!

Angie

Today is 11, 11,11!  Wow, such a great set of numbers.  I’ve been surfing the net all day reading about the significance of this group of numbers and I’m kind of sorry that I didn’t play the lotto today…

Anyway, let’s just compare this to hitting the reset button on your computer.  Let go of all the negative baggage you have been carrying around for the last however many years and START OVER.  I mean, let’s just get right to it, we have a chance each day to begin again.  We can look at our lives, our selves, our loved ones and the world with fresh eyes.  We can savour and delight in the day and the wonders of our lives on the planet at this time.  We can feel the fresh energy and love flowing through our bodies creating light and space in every cell.  We can share this new-found life force with our loved ones and the world.  ♥

Happy 11.11.11!  Make this your best restart ever!
